No restriction on private players to buy wheat in Punjab
Chandigarh, Mar 30 (UNI) The Central Government has not imposed any restriction or ban on any private company to purchase wheat from Punjab.
A spokesman of the Punjab Government today said the Union Food Secretary had already clarified that the Centre had not imposed any restriction on any private players who wanted to lift wheat from Punjab. Every private player was free to buy wheat from the farmers of state.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh had strongly reacted to the reported move of Central Government to impose restrictions on private players to lift wheat from wheat surplus states like Punjab and Haryana.
They had lodged the protest to Union Food Minister Sharad Pawar.
Meanwhile, the State Government has made all arrangements for smooth procurement of wheat in the state. Mr Adesh Partap Singh held a meeting with district level officers to monitor arrangements for making the procurement hassle free.
