Mulayam on warpath, says he will create trouble for Centre

Lalitpur, Mar 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today went on the warpath against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government, asserting he would not spare any given opportunity to create troubles for the Centre also.

Addressing election meetings here, Mr Yadav alleged,''Usually the Centre tries to corner state governments headed by Opposition parties, but the present incumbent led by Congress has breached every limit.'' Referring to the CBI probe against him, Mr Yadav claimed that Congress, BSP and BJP first tried to dismiss his government for three years and when they failed, a conspiracy was hatched against him.

Mr Yadav said the investigation had been ordered to ascertain the authenticity of charges levelled on him and his family.

Training guns on Congress, he asserted that the party was losing base in every state.

''Congress is already a spent force in Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Punjab and West Bengal. Soon Delhi and Haryana will also fall from their lap. Ironically, such a weak outfit is conspiring against the SP government,'' the former Defence Minister said.

Mr Yadav asserted the times ahead belong to the SP and his regime had not done anything wrong that it would merit removal from the helm.

He charged the Opposition with indulging in negative politics and harping only on 'remove Mulayam' rhetoric.

Further, the CM exhorted the electorate to exercise their franchise, ''since the coming UP poll was significant.'' ''Throng the polling centres from 0600 hrs on the voting day and carry water and 'sattu' (grounded gram powder) to eat. Return home only after casting your vote...your vote will change the destiny of UP,'' he advised.

''The amount of work done by my government in the last three-and-half years is unparalleled by any other earlier regime.

This has unsettled the Opposition,'' he said.

Mr Yadav promised that the power situation would considerably improve, if SP was voted to power again.

Taking a swipe at BSP chief Mayawati, the CM observed, ''She has proclaimed to put me and SP leader Amar Singh behind bars, if she gains power in UP. Such utterances are not befitting to someone, who is herself facing probe in corruption cases.'' Hitting out at BJP, the CM observed he had always tried to nurture bonhomie and understanding among people. ''BJP divides the society in the name of Hindus, temple and mosque, so that its candidates can save their deposit.'' Listing the achievements of his government, Mr Yadav added under his regime, poverty had been reduced by six per cent in UP.

The Bundelkhand region comprising Jhansi and Lalitpur districts goes to poll in the first phase on April 7.

The CM announced that in event of natural calamity, the farmers would be given compensation at the rate ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 7,500 per acre.

''The amount of farmers' insurance will be doubled, while weavers would also be brought under its ambit.'' Promising more such doles, Mr Yadav promised either government job or employment opportunity to every youth. ''No one would be allowed to remain unemployed.'' Besides, he announced that a modern hospital would be set up in Lalitpur, if the SP was voted to power again, so that the local people need not rush to Kanpur, Lucknow and Delhi for treatment.
