Haryana Govt to amend Punjab Police Service Rules
Chandigarh, Mar 30 (UNI) The Haryana Government today decided to amend the Punjab Police Service Rules, 1934 to increase quota for direct recruitment of outstanding sportspersons, including women, in the police force.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the State Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here, to boost the morale of upcoming talented sportspersons in the younger age group.
According to this decision, 10 per cent of the posts of Inspectors would be filled by direct recruitment. In addition, three per cent of the posts would be filled by direct recruitment of the outstanding sportspersons who are recipients of the Arjuna Awards, winners of gold or silver or bronze medals in the Olympics, gold medal winners in the Commonwealth or Asian Games.
Forty seven per cent of the posts of Sub-Inspectors would be filled by direct recruitment. In addition, three per cent of posts will be filled by direct recruitment from among outstanding sports persons who are recipients of these awards.
