Haryana approves extension of Metro rail link

Chandigarh, Mar 30 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet today approved a proposal for extension of Delhi-Badarpur Metro Rail link upto YMCA Chowk, Faridabad, in the first phase.

The cabinet meeting was presided by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The rail link may be further extended to Ballabgarh in the second phase.

It was decided that the proposal for sharing of funding of this extension upto YMCA Chowk be examined separately by the Administrative Department in consultation with the Finance Department.

The Metro extension of Delhi Metro from Badarpur border would cover a route length of 13.8 kms at a cost of Rs 1397 crore. This stretch would have nine stations.

The project of metro extension will be completed upto 2010 that is before the commencement of the Commonwealth Games.
