Governing Council to be set up to celebrate Guj Golden Jubilee:Modi
Gandhinagar, Mar 30 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today announced the setting up of a Governing Council, including eminent personalities, former Chief Ministers and the Assembly Speaker to draw up plans for celebration of the Golden Jubilee year of Gujarat in 2010.
Making a statement in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said,''The Golden Jubilee year will be a significant milestone in the progress of the state and we will make documentation of the past of Gujarat, and set golden goals for the state of tomorrow.'' He said to ensure that the Golden Jubilee event is not just a government government but a programme of the society, the Council would comprise members from various spheres of society.
''Apart from the Chief Minister, Speaker, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and Cabinet Ministers, the Council would comrpise of ex-CMs, Ex-Speakers, retired Justices of the Supreme Court and High Courts, retired IAS officers, Presidents of political parties, MPs, legislators, freedom fighters, scientists, reporters, sportsmen, writers, leading women, Non-resident Gujaratis, former princes, religious preachers and eminent persons from the fields of finance, law, music and arts, education, medicine etc,'' he said.
He said the celebrations must spread the identity of Gujarat at the international level and be result-oriented.
