Mumbai, Mar 30 (UNI) TADA court Judge P V Bavkar today granted permission to extradited underworld don Abu Salem to take mineral water in Arthur Road Jail.

Defence advocate Ashok Sarogi moved an application in the court seeking permission to allow his client to take mineral water in the prison as there was acute shortage of drinking water in the jail. He has also prayed that Salem was suffering from white patches on his body and the jail authority was not providing medical facilities to him.

Judge Bavkar directed the jail authority to provide medical facilities to Salem and allow him to take mineral water and then adjourned the matter till April 7 for framing charges.

Two unidentified gunmen had shot builder Pradeep Jain on March 7, 1995 outside his house in Juhu, a western suburb of Mumbai. Salem has been charged with conspiracy under the TADA Act in this case.
