1070 file nominations for Ph III of UP polls

Lucknow, Mar 30 (UNI) Altogether 1070 candidates have filed their nominations for the 57 assembly seats in the third phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections slated for April 18.

While 652 candidates had filed papers till yesterday, 418 candidates file nominations today, bringing the total tally to 1070, office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said here.

In the fourth phase, 92 candidates filed their nominations today and a total of 192 candidates have submitted their papers so far.

Candidates can submit their nominations till March 30 in the third phase while scrutiny of the papers would be done on April 2.

Candidates can withdraw their nominations till April 4.

Poll process for phase IV started on Wednesday with the issuance of notification in 57 assembly seats where polling would be held on April 23. Last date for filing of nominations for this phase is April 4 and scrutiny would be done the next day. Candidates can withdraw their papers till April 7.

In phase I where polling would be held on April 7, altogether 848 candidates are in the fray while for phase II where elections will be held for 58 seats on April 18, a total of 883 candidates are in the contest.
