TN: Minister inaugurates Heavy Vehicle factory

Kancheepuram (Tamil Nadu), Mar 28: Tamil Nadu Minister for Local Administration M K Stalin inaugurated the Heavy Vehicle factory of the Japanese company Komotsu at Orakadam near Sriperumbudur in 60-acre land at an estimated cost of Rs 75 crore here today.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the industrial development had started taking place and more factories were established in the State after the DMK came to power. Ten companies were granted licence to start their operations within a span of ten months time, he added.

Mr Stalin said renowned organisations and Multinational companies all over the world have shown their eagerness to invest in the State. The State would take steps to provide more employment opportunities to the youth by establishing more factories, he added.

He said the Government out of an investment of Rs 753 crore had so far ensured that 39,000 people were given direct employment and 65,000 indirect employment. The economic growth in the State is linked with the increase in number of factories, he added.

The minister said more factories were coming up in Sriperumbudur at a considerable pace. The State is not lagging behind in Transport and other industries, he added.

He said necessary infrastructure facilities would be provided to the investing companies and the Government would facilitate the process in a phased manner.

Komatsu HRD Director Sahani, Larsen and Toubro company Director, Naik, Indo-Japan Representative Kodakchi, State Labour Welfare Minister T M Anbarasan, Krishnasamy, M P, Yasoda, MLA, District Collector Pradeep Yadav, were among others, participated in the function.
