Shreyas Talpade and Purbi Joshi to host Star Gold Comedy Honors

Mumbai, Mar 29 (UNI) Shreyas Talpade of 'Iqbal' fame along with Purbi Joshi of Star One's Comedy Show Ha Ha Fame will host Star Gold Comedy Honors, to pay tribute to Indian comic excellence.

These honours will salute the people and the films that have made us laugh over the years, a release here said yesterday.

Speaking about his new role as the host of Comedy Honours, Shreyas Talpade said ''I have grown watching some of the greatest comedy films and I truly believe that it is easy to make one cry but difficult to make one laugh. It's great that Star Gold has launched this unique initiative to honour the comedy genre of Indian cinema and I am very happy to be part of this. This will be my first-ever anchoring stint and I am very excited.'' An ecstatic Purbi said ''I enjoy doing comedy and it is on Star One's comedy show where I got an opportunity to do some of the best comedy gags. Honouring the comedy genre is an excellent initiative by Star Gold and I am glad that I will be hosting it along with the very talented Shreyas Talpade. I look forward to have a fun-filled and exhilarating time.'' Star Gold will celebrate comedy all through April, which will culminate into the Comedy Honours starting from April one.

Shreyas and Purbi will host the Curtain Raiser at 1200 hours, which will be aired simultaneously on Star Gold, Star Plus, Star One and Star Utsav.

The first episode of the nine-part series of the 101 Greatest Comic Scenes will be presented by Purbi, these special one-hour episodes, which will be aired every Saturday and Sunday, which are a compilation of the best comedy scenes from the 70's, 80's, 90's, all the way till 2006.

Starting from April two at 1700 hrs, Salaam-e-Comedy Film Festival will be telecast. The best rib tickling comic films like ''Pyar Ke Side Effects'', ''Bluffmaster'', ''HeraPheri'', ''Chup Chup Ke'', ''Hulchul'', ''Maine Pyaar Kyo Kiya'', ''Haseena Maan Jayegi'', ''Hero No 1'', ''Biwi No 1'', ''Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'', ''Dulhe Raja'' and many more will be shown all through the month, the release added.
