Mulayam has amassed ill-gotten wealth: Mayawati
Agra, Mar 29 (UNI) BSP supremo Mayawati today charged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav with amassing ''ill-gotten wealth'' and warned that all the scams during his rule would be unearthed if her party came to power in the state.
Addressing an election meeting here, Ms Mayawati alleged that Mr Yadav and his kin, besides SP general secretary Amar Singh, had ''looted'' the exchequer and the entire state to amass wealth.
''Now, these people are attempting to flee the country, but they will not be allowed to do so,'' she reiterated.
Ms Mayawati said cases of corruption and financial irregularities would be probed and they would be taken to task accordingly.
''It is important that all sections of society come together to end the 'goonda raj' prevailing in UP, and establish an equity based regime,'' she observed.
The former CM lambasted all the opposition parties, including the SP, the Congress and the BJP. She claimed there was a secret pact between the SP and BJP to enjoy power.
''While, the BJP wants to regain power at the centre with the SP's help, the latter wants to retain power in UP with BJP's support,'' she maintained.
Asserting that the SP was ''anti-Muslim'', Ms Mayawati alleged the party engineered communal riots in Mau with the help of the BJP.
''The law and order situation in UP has deteriorated to such an extent, that not only women and children, but even men are not safe,'' she noted and referred to the killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal, Nithari incident, Meerut lecturer Kavita Rani's murder and Allahabad's madarsa gang rape cases.
Further, the BSP chief said reservation on the basis of religion was not a progressive step. ''If the Centre provides reservation on the basis of economic condition, our party will support the move.'' She exhorted BSP cadre to mobilise support for the party without lending ears to rumours.
