Five fake militants arrested, woman injured in Kashmir,
Srinagar, Mar 29 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested five youths who were posing as militants and indulging in extortion and other crimes while three others injured a woman in the Kashmir valley.
A police spokesman said three masked men holding toy pistols and knife entered the house of one Bashir Ahmed Wani at Shankergund Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla last night and demanded money.
However, the inmates raised an alarm and tried to catch them but the masked men attacked the wife of the owner and injured her seriously with a knife.
She has been hospitalised, he said.
The spokesman said that police station Magam was receiving information that some local youths were indulging in extortion and other crimes in the area for the past few weeks.
He said a trap was laid and finally the youths were caught. A toy pistol and some black clothes, which they were wearing to cover their faces, were recovered.
The micreants were identified as Bilal Dar, Javed Dar, Shabir Dar, Jehangir and Bilal Sheikh.
He said a case has been registered against them.
