Delhi govt makes arrangements to meet power demand for summer

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) The Delhi Government has made arrangements for meeting power demand during the summer season and, accordingly, agreements have been made with Madhya Pradesh, Himachal and Kerala.

While an agreement has been signed with Madhya Pradesh for supply of 750 MW Power on a round-the-clock basis from July 1 to October 30, another agreement has been signed by the Distribution Licensees with the Power Trading Corporation (PTC) for sourcing Power from Himachal Pradesh of quantum varying from 110 MW in April, 134 MW in May and June and 250 MW from July to October, a spokesperson of the Delhi Transco said.

Power Purchase Agreements for the month of April to June have also been signed with PTC for sourcing 157 MW from Kerala. The delivered cost of power is likely to be around Rs 8.00.

Agreement for sourcing additional 150 MW Power from Kerala is expected to be signed within the next couple of days.

With the signing of above PPAs, no power shortage is expected from July to October. However, arrangements for May and June are in progress and in about 2 weeks time, the shortfall would also be met through bilateral agreements and unallocated share of the CPSUs, the spokesperson said.
