Rs 37 crore being spent on new engineering college in HP: CM

Shimla, Mar 28 (UNI) A sum of Rs 37.50 crore was being spent on the construction of Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Engineering College at Sundernagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said.

Addressing people on the occasion of closing ceremony of the week-long state-level Nalwari Fair, he said a medical college in government sector would also be opened in the district soon.

Mr Singh said Rs 28 crore were being spent in Sundernagar assembly segment alone under various road construction projects during current financial year, besides finances allocated for the construction of the engineering college.

Besides strengthening road network in the district, several irrigation and drinking water supply schemes were also likely to be constructed in the assembly segment in the future, he said.

He said his government was strengthening Mandi administratively by opening zonal offices here.
