Punjab govt announces remission in prison sentences
Chandigarh, Mar 28 (UNI) The Punjab government today announced a remission in jail sentences of prisoners lodged in jails in the state.
This announcement was made by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in the state Assembly while replying on the motion of thanks on the Governors Address.
Prisoners undergoing 10 to 20 years imprisonment would get a remission of one year in their sentence, while those who had been sentenced from five to 10 years, would get a remission of nine months.
There would be a six months remission for those who are undergoing two to five years imprisonment while those who had been sentenced to less than two years, would get a three months remission in their jail sentence.
