Mulayam files second nomination from Gunnaur
Badaun, Mar 28: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today filed his nomination papers from Gunnaur assembly seat in Badaun district.
Earlier, Mr Yadav had filed his nomination from Bharthana assembly seat in his home district of Etawah on March 20. He had already announced to contest the coming UP poll from both the seats.
Mr Yadav had successfully fought the Gunnaur assembly bypoll in 2004 after becoming the Chief Mminister.
Later addressing an election meeting, he alleged that all the big and smaller political parties, including Congress, BSP and BJP were trying to corner him.
However, Mr Yadav exuded confidence of forming the next government in UP after the seven-phase poll.
Mr Yadav said the Congress had been conspiring against him at every step and wanted to impose president's rule in UP. ''If CPI(M) had not supported SP, Congress would have succeeded in its evil designs,'' he claimed, also crediting Jayalalithaa, Chandrababu Naidu and Akali Dal leaders in this regard. The CM reminded that Congress was non-existant in several states and it was only due to SP that the BJP has been checked from forming its government at the Centre in the last general election.
He promised to provide better roads, water and power facilities in UP if returned to power in the state.
Sounding supportive of banned Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Mr Yadav noted that Congress and BJP were, in fact, giving rise to terrorism.
In course of his speech, he listed the various achievements and highlights of his government and promised increased doles to farmers, unemployed youth and other sections of the society.
The SP chief claimed Badaun district had received maximum of development funds in UP, followed by Rae Bareli. He assured to usher in an era of faster development here if SP forms the next government.
