Mulayam exhorts people to exercise franchise
Sitapur, Mar 28 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today exhorted the electorate to exercise their franchise in the upcoming state assembly polls.
Addressing an election meeting here, Mr Yadav said the coming polls were crucial for the development of the state.
''Throng the polling centres from 0600 hrs on the voting day and carry water and 'sattu' (grounded gram powder) to eat. Return home only after casting your vote...your vote will change the destiny of UP,'' he maintained.
Mr Yadav claimed that SP would emerge as a potent political force in the days to come.
''The amount of work done by my government in the last three and a half years is unparalleled by any other regime,'' he reiterated.
The SP chief termed the opposition issueless, which is threatened by the ''rising popularity'' of SP. They are only harping on 'Remove Mulayam' rhetoric, he added.
Mr Yadav hit out at the Congress for hatching a conspiracy against his government, despite the decreasing support base of the party.
