New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The Goverment today warned BSNL, MTNL and all other private operators that stiff action will be taken against those who fail to complete the re-verification process by March 31.

''The Department of Telecom (DoT) will start verification process once the deadline is over. If BSNL, MTNL or other private mobile operators, are found guilty of not completing the re-verification process, they will be fined,'' Communication and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran told media persons here.

However, Mr Maran declined to extend the deadline for completing the process of re-verification of existing subscribers beyond March 31.

In a letter written to all the mobile operators, DoT has directed them to submit compliance report regarding the re-verification of existing subscribers by March 31.

For every unverified number, which comes to notice operators would have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 each and disconnect the number.
