HC directs govts to release funds for quality primary education
New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today said the Central and Delhi Governments should not hesitate in releasing the required funds to improve the quality of education in the MCD -run primary schools in the Capital.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice M K Sarma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said the Centre and the state government should not hesitate to release the funds for making the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)-run schools to impart quality education.
The Court asked the authorities to implement the suggestions in the report of the committee constituted to suggest remedies for the improvement in primary education in 1900 primary schools.
Adjourning the matter till July 25, the court asked the MCD to file an action taken report (ATR) on the steps taken in this regard.
The MCD runs about 1900 primary schools and more than 955,000 students study in these institutions.
The students are then shifted to high schools run by the Delhi Government.
On the direction of the High Court the authorities submitted a concrete plan for bringing improvement in all the MCD schools.
