Guj Govt announces Rs 13,000 crore poverty uplifting scheme
Gandhinagar, Mar 28 (UNI) The Gujarat Government today announced a Rs 13,000 crore poverty uplifting scheme, covering 50 lakh people of the state.
The scheme will cover all components of social welfare and create infrastructure for primary education, health, housing and other sectors, Chief Minister Narendra Modi told the Legislative Assembly.
Urban poor will also be covered in the ''Garib Samrudhdhi Yajana'', to be launched from the new Financial year and will be implemented in next five years, he said.
The Government proposes to set up social welfare infrastructure under the scheme including construction of 1.75 lakh toilets in the poverty-dominated areas.
Houses will also be provided, under a special scheme, for the poors. Primary health centers will also be set up under the scheme.
