Floral tributes paid to Bansi Lal on death anniversary

Chandigarh, Mar 28 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to former Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal on his first anniversary of death at a function organised at the Haryana Congress Bhawan here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the late minister played a significant role in the development of Haryana.

When the state was formed in 1966, he said, questions were raised on its self-reliance, but when Bansi Lal assumed the office as chief minister in 1968, he laid the foundation for a prosperous Haryana under the guidance of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Mr Hooda said Bansi Lal served the people in different capacities, including that of a union minister, and even when he was in the Opposition he discharged his duties aptly.

Working President of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Ram Parkash also paid tributes to the former Haryana chief minister and lauded his contribution to the development of Haryana. He described him as a man of revolutionary ideas and principles.
