Concern over encroachment in Intangki National Park
Kohima, Mar 28 (UNI) The reported logging of timbers and land encroachment in Intangki Reserve Forest has drawn significant attention in the Nagaland Assembly.
Congress member Chuba Chang questioned whether the Intangki National Park, which was the lone National Reserved Park in Nagaland, belonged to the Government or the NSCN-IM.
He asked the Government to take necessary action to save the National Park.
Another Congress member C Apok Jamir also highlighted the problem and said the Intangki Reserve Forest can become a tourist hotspot, especially for eco-tourism. He urged the Government to take necessary measures and fulfil the tall claims they made regarding tourism promotion.
Meanwhile, senior Congress legislator Yamakam also called for preservation of Nagaland's heritage and rich wildlife. He suggested that 'Mithuns' and local goats should be preserved.
