Banks to disburse Rs 2,410 cr loan

Pathanamthitta, Mar 28 (UNI) Banks in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala have decided to disburse loans to the tune of Rs 2,410.21 crore during 2007-2008 financial year.

Of this, loans amounting to Rs 1,476.63 crore would be distributed in the priority sector, it was stated at the District Banking Consultative Committee meeting chaired by District Collector Asok Kumar Singh here today.

Mr Singh called for giving a boost to vegetable cultivation by releasing loans on generous terms.

The meeting also requested the banks to provide education loans to meritorious students on a priority basis.

The banks had disbursed loans totalling Rs 807.26 crore against a target of Rs 1,158.63 crore till December 31 during the current fiscal.
