Chandigarh, Mar 28 (UNI) Claiming a false case of corruption had been registered by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) against him, former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said this was case of clear political vendetta.

''While you have been harping on ''no vendetta'', the reverse has started happening and that too, at a speed which clearly indicates that your government has a one point agenda'', Capt Singh, who is currently in London undergoing medical tests, said in a letter addressed to his successor Parkash Singh Badal.

The letter, which was circulated amongst mediapersons outside the state Vidhan Sabha, alleged fake cases were being registered all over the state against Congress workers and a reign of terror had been unleashed.

Claiming he had wrongly been implicated in the Ludhiana City Centre scam, Capt Singh alleged the case was registered at the Chief Minister's instance by the Vigilance Bureau. Everything about the City Center had been transparent and had been put on record, he added.

Capt Singh sought to remind Mr Badal that he had instituted an inquiry into the City Centre case when it was highlighted. ''The inquiry report came to me at a time when the elections were close at hand, and action was deferred as a new government was soon to take over, which could then take a decision on it'', the letter added.

Claiming the government was following a 'cloak and dagger' policy, Capt Singh said selective information was being leaked to the press to achieve the objective of the vilification of political opponents, while, not even a copy of the FIR in the scam had been made public. The FIR had been registered on a number of cognizable and non-bailable offences, he added.

''Though it is well known to you that I left the country for some time for medical reasons, the FIR has been timed to show as if I intentionally escaped from the reach of law'', Capt Singh said while reiterating that he would be ready and willing to appear before any police officer or court at the first opportunity in this case.

''You tell me as to where I should appear and offer myself for arrest'', Capt Singh asked while alleging that Mr Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal had during the election campaign openly stated that if the SAD was voted to power, he would be put behind bars.

''It is in the fitness of things for me to remind you that when a case was registered against you and your associates, my government took a conscious decision to direct the investigating agency not to arrest you in the course of investigation'', Capt Singh said while refering to corruption case registered against the Badal's during his tenure.
