Stone pelting, shop burnt in mob clash in Jamnagar
Jamnagar, Mar 27 (UNI) The festival of Ramnavmi was marred by stone pelting and setting ablaze of a shop in Lalpur village today while one person was arrested in this connection.
According to police, trouble broke out in Lalpur, a village 35-km away from Jamnagar over eve teasing of a girl by a youth from the other community.
''When the procession of Ramnavmi was underway in the village, Dilawar Chhotubhai Khoja allegedly molested a girl. This triggered stone pelting between the two communities,'' a police officer told UNI.
''An irate mob went in search of Khoja to his house and not finding him there, the mob set ablaze his fruit shop,'' said the officer, adding that the police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the mob and arrested Khoja.
''The situation is now under control. However, as part of precautionary measure, we have beafed up security in the village,'' said the officer.
