Rahul Bajaj stresses on removal of octroi

Mumbai, Mar 27 (UNI) Veteran industrialist and MP Rahul bajaj today stressed the need for removal of octroi in the era of globalisation saying the tax could take the state to downfall.

Maharashtra State Octroi Removal Committee organised a meeting at Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries on this issue.

Mr Bajaj said that while removing the octroi it should be considered that the people working on the octroi check posts should not loose their job and trade, industry and unions should come together apart from all the political parties on this issue, he said.

He said that if the government is not finding any alternative then ''We should come forward to offer the same.'' President of the Octroi Removal Committee Eknath Thakur also spoke on the occasion. The representatives of various chambers were also present.
