Bhopal, Mar 27 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress today slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of changing the five-decade-old logo of the Apex Bank, the top institute of the state's cooperative banks, and demanded that the former logo be restored.

A delegation, led by Congress state President Subhash Yadav, met Governor Balram Jakhar here and submitted a memorandum alleging that the BJP was ''politicising'' the institute and revealed an ''anti-farmer'' mentality. 'Sarve bhavantu sukhinah' (May there be happiness everywhere), which was emblazoned below the logo, has also been done away with.

''The bank's Working Committee decided to change the logo but such a step has no legal sanction,'' the memo claimed while quoting a Supreme Court ruling that prohibited any nominated body from taking a policy decision.

Alleging that the new logo uses the saffron and green colours of the BJP banner, the memo added that the same colours were being employed in repainting the bank building.
