Lankan national arrested at gunpoint in Chennai
Chennai, Mar 27 (UNI) A Sri Lankan national was arrested at gunpoint when he tried to escape from a lodge in the city today.
Acting on specific information, police raided the lodge at Thiruvanmiyur area in the city, when Lankan National Sanjeev Khan alias Nimalan (31) tried to give a slip to the cops by jumping from the balcony, official sources said.
However, the special police team surrounded him and nabbed him at gunpoint. He hailed from Vavuniya in Sri lanka.
More than 15 credit cards and 10 passports, about Rs two lakh cash and a computer were seized from his room.
The city police and Q branch police, dealing with extremist cases, have been interrogating him to ascertain whether he had any links with the banned LTTE, the sources added.
The police are also verifying the veracity of the credit cards and passports to find out whether they were genuine or fake.
