Khalsa Heritage project to be completed in two years

Chandigarh, Mar 27 (uni) The Khalsa Heritage Complex, a unique project of the Punjab Government being constructed at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birth place of the'Khalsa Panth' would be dedicated to the nation on the auspicious day of Hola Mohalla in 2009.

According to an official spokesman this Rs 224 crore, novel project, one of its kind in the world, was conceived to depict the evolution of the 'Khalsa Panth', especially to the younger generation and to Punjabis living abroad.

On the day of its inaguration, the government would also honour Moshe Safdie, the Israeli architect who drew the blueprint of this project and has been fully involved in the evolution of this project.

The spokesman added that the government had already spent Rs 114 crore on this project and civil works of the project would be completed within one year.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was taking keen interest in the early completion of this project, has asked the authorities to complete the remaining work, interiors and design by February, 2009.

The complex will have a word class library stocked with books and rare manuscripts including reference books to help scholars reasearching of the evolution of the 'Khalsa Panth'.

The Project would also depict through paintings, the genesis and growth of Sikhism.

The Chief Minister has also assured that the release of the remaining funds amounting to Rs 110 crore would not be any problem and this project was a priority for his government.
