'Sethu Samudram only if it bypasses Rama's bridge'
New
Delhi,
Mar
26:
Janata
Party
President
Subramanian
Swamy
today
contradicted
the
report
that
some
Hindu
Dharmacharyas
had
agreed
to
give
up
the
agitation
against
proposed
destruction
of
Ramsethu
to
make
way
for
Setu
Samudram,
the
project
intended
to
provide
navigational
link
to
connect
east
and
western
coasts
in
the
southern
peninsula.
Dr
Swamy
in
his
statement
said
he
had
been
authorised
by
Swamy
Dayananda
Saraswati
to
state
correct
version
of
the
meeting
with
Union
Shipping
Minister
T
R
Baalu
and
his
officers
on
March
20.
He
said
there
was
no
question
of
any
patriotic
Hindu
agreeing
for
the
demoltiion
of
Ramsetu,
the
legendry
bridge
built
across
the
sea
during
the
Ramayana
period
to
liberate
Seeta
from
the
clutches
of
Ravana,
the
demon
King
of
Lanka.
Hindus,
he
said
have
no
objection
to
the
navigational
project
as
it
would
cut
down
the
cost
provided
it
bypassed
Ramsethu
jetting
out
Pambam
to
Dhanushkoti.
This
route
would
be
cheaper,
envioronmentally
friendly
and
in
keeps
the
long
term
national
security
interersts.
Hence
the
govenrment
must
accept
this
constructive
alternative
or
face
the
ire
of
850
million
Hindus,
he
warned.
