'BJP confident of winning UP, Goa assembly polls'
Panaji,
Jan
26:
BJP
national
spokesperson
and
Goa
observer
Rajiv
Pratap
Rudy
today
claimed
that
his
party
will
win
the
Uttar
Pradesh
assembly
elections
with
200
seats.
Talking
to
reporters
here,
Mr
Rudy
said
people
in
the
country
are
not
happy
with
the
UPA
government
at
the
Centre
for
the
soaring
price
hike
of
the
essential
commodities
and
inflation
rate.
While
on
the
other
hand,
people
have
been
attracted
towards
BJP
policies
in
the
country.
The
party
had
shown
improvement
in
Karnataka,
Bihar,
Punjab
and
Uttranchal
assembly
elections
and
also
some
municipalities
in
Maharashtra
and
Chandigarh.
He
said,
despite
having
two
expert
economists
in
the
UPA
government-Prime
Minister
Manmohan
Singh
and
Finanace
Minister
P
Chidambaram-
the
government
has
failed
to
control
the
prices
of
the
essential
commodities
in
the
country.
He
criticised
the
Congress,
which
survived
with
the
support
of
Left
party,
for
it's
failure
which
is
very
well
reflected
on
the
national
scenario.
Speaking
about
Special
Economic
Zone(SEZ)
in
the
country,
Mr
Rudy
said
although
BJP
was
the
main
architect
of
SEZ
Policy,
the
party
has
opposed
the
existing
stature.
Goa
is
yet
to
come
with
SEZ
policy
and
remarked
that
it
is
virtually
a
'land
grabbing
excercise'.
He
said
BJP
is
all
set
for
the
forthcoming
state
Assembly
elections
due
in
May
and
will
get
majority
of
seats
to
give
a
new
government
for
Goans.
BJP
in
Goa
will
contest
elections
without
any
alliance
parters,
he
added.
