Mizoram seeks fund for Survey Institute
Aizawl, Mar 25: Mizoram sought fund to the tune of a crore from centre to set up a Survey Institute for training to surveyors of the state to cut down the cost to impart them training in Hyderabad.
According to state's Revenue&Land Settlement minister B Lalthlengliana the state had included a token of Rs 10 lakhs for the institute, as necessary funds for this is on the cards and site inspection team of central government would be coming soon.
''At present, we have 25 persons undergoing training in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 75 lakhs, which is even higher than a one-year course'' Lalthlengliana said adding that Mizoram is the only state in the NE region, which does not have a Survey Institute of its own.
More over, Mizoram government had earlier asked the National Surveyors Institute, Hydrabad authority for a condensed course of six months since most of the course contains irrelevant for a hilly state.
Despite repeated requests to develop seperate course contents for NE region no response has not yet been received from the institute authority, the minister stated.
