MCD to regularise jobs of 3 temp workers: HC
New
Delhi,
Mar
25:
The
Delhi
High
Court
has
directed
the
Municipal
Corporation
of
Delhi(MCD)
to
regularise
the
services
of
three
fourth
class
employees,
who
had
been
working
with
it
for
more
than
15
years
on
temporary
basis.
A
division
bench
of
Chief
Justice
M
K
Sarma
and
Justice
Sanjiv
Khanna
said,
''Since
the
two
of
them
are
working
for
such
a
long
period
of
25
years
and
one
for
over
15
years,
we
find
no
reason
to
interfere
with
the
order
passed
by
the
learned
Single
Judge
for
regularisation.''
Dhanpati
and
Bhateri
had
been
working
with
the
MCD
for
more
than
25
years
and
Nirmala
for
15
years
with
the
municipal
authorities
on
ad-hoc
basis.
Counsel
Ajay
Mehrotra
for
the
petitioners
had
filed
a
petition
seeking
direction
to
the
MCD
for
their
placement
on
regular
basis.
The
single
bench
of
the
court
had
pronounced
an
order
in
their
favour,
however,
the
MCD
appealed
against
the
judgement
in
the
double
bench.
The
MCD
did
not
file
a
counter
affidavit
to
the
application
filed
by
the
employees.
The
court
directed
the
authorities
to
regularise
their
jobs
since
June
2004.
However,
the
court
said
this
order
should
not
be
treated
as
a
precedent
in
any
other
matter.
Two
of
the
applicants
had
been
working
since
1979
and
another
since
1992.
All
the
respondents
had
appealed
to
both
to
the
Lt
Governor
and
Chief
Minister
of
Delhi
in
February
2001
for
regularisation
of
their
jobs.
When
the
authorities
did
not
take
any
action,
the
respondents
filed
the
case
in
the
High
Court,
said
the
petition
filed
by
Mehrotra.
