Rajasthan: 5 lakes under NLConservation project

Jaipur, Mar 23: Five lakes of Rajasthan will be developed under the national lakes conservation proejct.

Union Minister of Forest and Enviornment Navo Narayan Meena disclosed this to the senior offcials of the Rajasthan government who met him in New Delhi in this connection. He said the Nakki Lake in Mount Abu, Pushkar and Anand Sagar lakes in Ajmer, Udaipur's Pichola and Fathesagar lakes would be developed and conserved under the scheme.

The Rajasthan government has presented development and beautification reports of the state's two world famous lakes namely Nakki Lake of Mount Abu and the Pushkar Lake of Ajmer before the Union Forest and Enviornment Ministry.

The project include Rs nine crore rupees for Nakki Lake development and Rs 87 crore for the development of the Pushkar Lake.

According to the proejct the work of the Pushkar lake's development and beautification would be completed in three phases.

Sources said senior officials of the state government had an extensive discussion with the Union Enviornment and Forest Ministry in New Delhi. In the meeting Rajasthan secretary for Local Bodies Dr Manjit Singh was also present.

Dr Singh said an amount of Rs 8.83 crore has been proposed to spend on developemnt, beautification and purification of water of Nakki Lake.

Likewise Rs 22-25 crore would be spent on the first phase of conservation and beautification of the Pushkar lake.
