State to concentrate on sarva shiksha abhiyan

Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) An outlay of Rs 277 crore has been provided as the state's share under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in the Maharashtra Budget for year 2007-08.

State Finance Minister Jayant Patil, while tabling the Budget here today, also announced a provision of Rs 100 crore for third Commonwealth games apart from making an outlay of Rs 131 crore for the sports sector.

He also announced doubling of the scholarship of the fourth and seventh standard examination.

The Budget carries an outlay of Rs 1.54 crore for Maulana Azad Alpsankhyank Arthik Vikas Mahamandal towards share capital apart from the additional amount to be made available for construction of Haj house at Nagpur.

For connecting all 35 districts to Mantralaya and all talukas to the district head quarters, an outlay of Rs 19.20 crore has been provided under Maharashtra state wide area network project.
