Reliance signs MoU with Rohm and Haas for acrylic unit
Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) India's most valuable private company Reliance Industries (RIL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States-based Rohm and Haas company to explore the joint construction of a 2-lakh tonne acrylic-monomer complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat.
'' Materials from the facility are intended to serve as building blocks for environmentally-advanced products for paints and coatings, packaging adhesives, detergents, textile and construction materials,'' a Reliance statement said today. The new facility is expected to spur development of super absorbent polymers used primarily in the manufacture of baby diapers, the release added.
While the key objective would be to serve domestic market needs, the complex could also export acrylic acid and derivatives, the statement said.
