Reliance Fresh to open 11 stores in Bangalore

Bangalore, Mar 22: After tasting phenomenal success in Andhra Pradesh, Jaipur, Chennai, Delhi and Ranchi, Reliance Retail Limited has decided to expand further in southern India by opening 11 pilot Reliance Fresh stores in this city.

Talking to newspersons here today, Company Chief Executive Officer (Customs Operation) Sunil K Chandra said, "This was part of the Rs 25,000 crore investment in retail business by the company, owned by Mr. Mukesh Ambani. The stores would be established in 784 cities throughout the country in the coming days," he added.

Stating that the produces available would be from rural areas of India and abroad, he said about 150 varieties of imported and local fruits would be available in the store. There were 156 collection centres at present and the number would increase as the demand grew and these centres would be converted into rural hubs.

He said the retail sector was a Rs 300 billion market and growing at the rate of 12 per cent to 15 per cent. Within the next three to four years, the company's market share was expected to touch Rs 25 billion.
