Punjab Police conduct raids to nab absconding Cong leader
Amritsar, Mar 22 (UNI) Special teams of the Punjab Police have conducted raids at various places outside the state to arrest absconding former Congress MLA Jasbir Singh Dimpa.
Revealing this here today, Majitha SSP Lok Nakh Angra said the teams raided certain suspected hideouts of Dimpa in Jaipur, Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh and Sharanpur in Uttar Pradesh last night. The authorities of these states were taken into confidence by the police, he added.
The SSP said a suspected hideout was also raided in Chandigarh, but without success.
Dimpa, who lost the assembly polls from the Beas constituency is wanted in a criminal case registered against him and others following the death of an Akali worker after a clash during the election campaign in the constituency. A Baba Bakala court had early this month issued arrest warrants against Dimpa and three others in the case registered on January 29.
