One person killed in police raid, 3 police officials injured

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) One person was killed in a police raid while three police officials were injured in retaliatory attack on an Excise police station under Dhoolpet police limits in the city today.

Police said acting on a tip-off, Excise officials raided a place where a group of persons were preparing arrack. One person Anand Singh was killed while fleeing from the spot. He died in a hospital while undergoing treatment.

After hearing the news of Singh's death, irate people reached the excise station and pelted stones on it, damaging the furniture.

In the melee, one Sub-Inspector Sudhakar and two constables were injured, who were admitted to the Osmania hospital.

Police opened fire to disperse the mob. One police jeep and two two-wheeler vehicles were damaged in the mob attack.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area to control the situation.
