NCP offers joint roadshow with Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Mar 22: Wishing Mr Rahul Gandhi success in Indian politics, the Nationalist Congress Party today offered to hold joint roadshows of NCP MP Supriya Sule with the Congress MP in Allahabad.

"If the Congress reacts positively to the NCP's appeal not to put up its candidate in the Allahabad North Assembly seat, we will also organise a joint rally with the Congress in Allahabad," NCP Spokesman D P Tripathi said briefing media persons here.

Appealing to the Congress not to put up its candidate in the seat as it would only help the BJP to win the constituency, which has been the traditional abode of the Nehru family, he said if the Congress responded positively to the appeal a joint road show of Mr Rahul Gandhi and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar's daughter and MP Supriya Sule could be organised in Allahabad. "We will direct Supriya Sule to have a joint roadshow with Mr Gandhi." "Allow us to wrest the seat from the BJP by not putting up candidate against NCP candidate Anugraha Narain Singh, who has been MLA twice,"he said appealing to the Congress. Pointing out that the Congress had been defeated six times from the seat earlier, he added the NCP was prepared to cooperate with the Congress in all the remaining seats of Allahabad.

Mr Tripathi said the NCP would be fielding 27 candidates in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
