J K to become ideal tourist destination shortly: Azad

Jammu, Mar 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the state will soon become one of the leading tourist destinations of the world.

While reviewing implementation of various projects under Pantnitop, Poonch, Rajouri, Lakhanpur-Sarthal, Bhadarwah, Mansar-Sruinsar and Kishtwar tourism development authorities, of Jammu division at Mr Azad said all newly created TDAs will be equipped with modern and sophisticated tourism infrastructure.

He said the network of tourism development authorities covering all potential areas of the state are now required to accomplish the task of creating modern and sophisticated tourist-oriented infrastructure within a couple of years in order to make the destinations ideal and captivating tourist spots.

The Chief Minister said the past one year has witnessed the authorities preparing plans and projects and now the time has come to translate these into action. The centre has allocated adequate funds for the same.

Mr Azad directed the authorities to maintain proper coordination with other development agencies to accomplish the projects in a time bound manner.

The Chief Minister underlined that tourist reception centres will be equipped with accommodation, information and interpretation, recreation centres and other facilities, in a uniform manner to facilitate the tourists as well as locals.
