Cabinet nod to rail connectivity in Cochin Port
New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for providing rail connectivity from Edapally to the International Container Trans-shipment Terminal project site at Vallarpadam in Cochin Port at an estimated cost of Rs 245.67 crore.
The implementation of the 8.86 km project will lead to faster evacuation of cargo, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the CCEA meeting.
It will also fulfil the obligations as per the license agreement signed by the Cochin Port with the BOT operator, India Gateway Terminals Private Limited.
