An outlay of Rs 1,282 crore for power sector
Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) Against the backdrop of severe power crunch of 5,500 MW in Maharashtra, Finance Minister Jayant Patil today announced an outlay of Rs 1,282 crore for the power sector.
The budget also carries a provision of Rs 692 crore for electricity generation capacity addition.
Mr Patil, tabling the Budget 2007-08, said efforts are being made to remove a large demand-supply gap in the power sector.
Funds are also being provided to complete thermal projects at Parli, Paras, Chandrapur, Khaperkheda, Koradi and Bhusaval.
''State is expected to receive 4,000 MW power from eight private sector power projects with generation capacity of 12,500 MW'', he added.
To ensure energy conservation and proper utilisation of power, single phasing scheme and gaothan feeder separation schemes are being implemented, he added.
