Kerala Govt to file appeal against HC stay: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 21: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan aid the government would file appeal against the High Court stay against the government decision to allow Co-operative Societies to run toddy shops.

Briefing Cabinet decisions to reporters here yesterday, he said the High Court was not against the government's liquor policy but against issuing license to co-operative societies.

Following the stay, the auctioning of toddy shops could be held only on March 28, he added.

On misappropriation of tsunami fund, he said the government had received the Vijyanunni Commission report and it was submitted in the Assembly with action taken report. The mode of inquiry would be announced at the Assembly, he added.

Regarding the IT proposal by the TECOM company, a Dubai based firm, he said the company had demanded that they wanted ownership of land after 25 years.

However, the government informed them that it would not be possible and the lease agreement would be extended up to 99 years and the government was waiting for their reply.

Meanwhile, some other groups also approached the government with some proposals, he said.

However, the government informed them that it was ready to provide land at any other place except Kochi, as a discussion in this regard was progressing with another company.
