Punjab Cong accuses SAD-BJP govt of witchhunting

Chandigarh, Mar 20 (UNI) The Punjab Congress accused the SAD-BJP government of indulging in 'political victimisation' and framing poltical opponents in false cases.

'' Though we responded positively to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's suggestion, seeking cooperation from the opposition, but the government on its part has adopted a vindictive attitude against us,'' leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said while talking to mediapersons outside the Vidhan Sabha here today.

Specifying her charges, Mrs Bhattal claimed that a fabricated criminal case was registered against a former Congress MLA. However she declined comment when pointed out that the case against the former MLA was registered during the election campaign and when the Congress was in power.

Refering to poll promise of the SAD-BJP of providing 'atta' (wheat flour) and 'daal' (pulses) at subsidised rates to the poor, she demanded that the government honour this commitment.The government had promised to give this concession on Baisakhi, she said while refering to the governments recent decision to postpone the scheme so as to bring more families under its ambit.

Ms Bhattal also demanded that the state government should sanction Rs one crore per annum to each MLA for the development of his or her constituency.
