PIL filed for protection of martyr Sukhdev's house
Chandigarh, Mar 20 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana high court today issued notice for July 17 to the Punjab government on a PIL division seeking directions to preserve and protect the house of martyr Sukhdev at Ludhiana, which was in a dilapidated state.
The house in question was the birthplace of Sukhdev, who was hanged along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru on March 23, 1931 by the British government.
The orders were issued by a Bench comprisig Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rajive Bhalla on the PIL filed by advocate H C Arora.
The petitioner has pleaded that the house should be taken over by the government and converted into a memorial to the freedom fighter.
