Month-long J'khand session reduced by five days for Palamu bypoll
Ranchi, Mar 20 (UNI) The Opposition today walked out of the Assembly, protesting the government's decision to shorten the ongoing month-long budget session by five days keeping in view the March 29 by-election to the Palamu Parliamentary seat.
The government placed budget yesterday and it would be passed in its next sitting on March 22.
The Business Advisory Committee yesterday decided that the session would not be held on March 23, 24, 26, 28 and 29 and it would resume business only from April two till its scheduled conclusion on April five.
As Congress Legislature Party leader Manoj Yadav informed the Assembly of the BAC's new calender, the Opposition comprising BJP and JD (U) vehemently protested and staged a walkout and it was later passed by voice vote.
BJP's two members - Upendra Nath Das and Saryu Rai - demanded voting on the BAC decison to which Speaker Alamgir Alam said the House was not conduct voting its decision.
Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda said the present UPA government was going to set wrong precedent by seeking to pass the budget in a day on March 22.
