Srinagar Mar 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government tonight ordered cancellation of leave of its employees in the valley in view of the flood situation and also activated round-the-clock control rooms in all districts headquarters.

Two control rooms have been set up in Srinagar and one each in Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla, Badgam and Kupwara districts.

Police have also provided communication facilities to the flood control rooms at Sangam, Ram Munshi Bagh and Asham, so that information regarding water level could be easily disseminated to the general public.

The Police Control Room at Srinagar has been made the nodal agency for distribution of boats.

The state administration has ordered the cancellation of leave of all the employees in view of the flood situation arising due to incessant rains.

The employees have been asked to rejoin their duties immediately due to alarming increase in the water level in river Jhelum and its tributaries. The people residing in low lying areas and near the bunds have been asked to immediately shift to safer places to avoid any damage to life and property.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Basharat Ahmad has directed the Flood Control and UEED departments besides the agencies concerned to keep its men and machinery ready to meet any eventuality.

He visited Sangam and several areas to assess the situation following continuous rains.
