Chennai, Mar 20 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today received a shot in the arm with another key constituent, CPI favouring setting up of a co-ordination committee by the ruling DMK among the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in Tamil Nadu for governance.

Both the PMK and the CPI are allies of the DPA, extending outside support to the DMK government in the state.

The CPI favouring setting up of the committee, comes a few days after Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi dismissed as not feasible, a similar demand by the PMK, which insisted that such a committee was essential while taking major decisions.

While favouring the setting up of the committee, CPI state unit Secretary D Pandian, talking to reporters, however, said the party would not place it as a demand.

''We will put it forth as a suggestion. We will not make it a demand or put any conditions for it'', he said, when pointed out that such a committee would help in addressing the issues concerning the farmers of the state.

It may be noted that Mr Karunanidhi had rejected PMK's demand to form a co-ordination committee of DPA parties at the state level to discuss important issues, saying such an arrangement was not necessary as all issues could be discussed outside and any discussion inside the committee could create differences.
