Co-op offering job for eunuchs in Rajasthan for recovering debt

Jaipur, Mar 20 (UNI) Financiers employing musclemen for recovery of bad debt is common but a co-operative society has gone a step further and decided to use the services of eunuchs to get their long term dues recovered from defaulters.

The Namana Gram Seva Sahakari Samiti(Namana village co-operative society) in Bundi district has decided to seek the services of eunuchs on daily wages and on commission basis to recover the bad debts fron defaulters.

Samiti chairman Kishan Chand Sharma said ''the society had about Rs 10 lakhs as bad debts from about 25 defaulters of the loan amount of Rs 60 lakh dispersed a decade ago. The committee has tried every trick in the trade to get the loan amount recovered but in vain.'' He said the defaulters were quite rich and wilfully avoiding repayment.

The new committe of the society that took over last December decided to seek the help of the eunuchs as they feel ''people will pay up rather than puting their perstige and diginity at stake with eunuchs knocking the door''.

Mr Sharma said they would give an advertisement in the newspapers offering job to eunuchs on commmission or contract basis.They would employ four eunuchs initially and the recovery would begin in the month of April after the harvest season.
