BJP MPs to press for their motions on Nandigram
New Delhi, Mar 20: The BJP MPs today decided to hold up the sitting of parliament if the ruling party did not allow the NDA Motions for a discussion on Nandigram violence and on the Adjournment Motion notice served by the Leader of the Opposition L K Advani and other leaders.
Briefing newspersons after the BJP Parliamentary Party Meeting Mrs Sushma Swaraj said in the Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Jaswant Singh and Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi had submitted a motion under rule 168 of the rules and procedures of the House seeking a discussion. ''If there is no discussion on these issues, the BJP MPs will press for their democratic rights,'' she told reporters.
The decision of the BJP Parliamentary Party assumes significance after the Rajya Sabha witnessed scenes where BJP Chief Whip S S Ahluwalia tried to snatch the papers from Finance Minister P Chidambaram while he was trying to make a speech yesterday, demanding a discussion over Nandigram Violence issue.
